Mâcon, the capital of the Saône-et-Loire department in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, is located 58 km from Chalon-sur-Saône and 41 km from Bourg-en-Bresse (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes). It is surrounded by the Jura Mountains, the Massif Central, and the vineyards of the Mâconnais region. The Saône River, which runs along the eastern edge of the city, marks the border with the Ain department. Mâcon is a pleasant town where life is good: you can take advantage of your stay to explore its cultural heritage, such as the neo-Romanesque Saint-Pierre Church, the neoclassical Saint-Vincent Cathedral, the Ursulines Museum, and the Musée du Souvenir Français, housed in the Château du Grand Four.
This art and archaeology museum, designated a “Musée de France,” is located in the former Ursuline convent. It houses more than 25,000 works and artifacts dating from antiquity to the 20th century. On the ground floor is the archaeology section, focusing on prehistory, history, and regional urban planning. The first floor, dedicated to ethnography, displays pottery, paintings, tools, and photographs related to rowing. It also traces the development of the Saône River as well as the trades of fishermen and winemakers. On the second floor, you can explore the fine arts collections.
During this activity in Mâcon, you’ll be immersed in a TV studio-style setting. Seated in a circle facing a buzzer—just like on *The Weakest Link*—you’ll have to answer questions as quickly as possible. You’ll compete against your opponents in two rounds of three rounds each on a variety of fun topics: movies (movie quotes), music (blind tests), celebrities, memory and observation questions, and more…

Experience the thrills of off-road motorsports by driving a Cross Car, a lightweight single-seater vehicle also known as a Sprint Car! In Vézé, located less than 20 minutes from Mâcon, you’ll be welcomed by Florent Tafani, the 2016 European champion, in a warm and friendly atmosphere with coffee, fruit juice, and pastries. After a briefing on driving techniques and safety rules, you’ll set off on an adventure through the Mâcon wine region for an introductory session (5 laps), a half-day session (12 laps), or a full-day session (22 laps).
