Spend an entire afternoon exploring the heart of the Landes region on a Tchanquaroues. Tchanquaroues are XL electric scooters that let you get around quickly on any terrain. A local guide will accompany you as you explore Mimizan, its backroads, and its natural surroundings; they’ll ensure your safety and help you get the hang of your XL scooter. Your guide will share stories about the Landes region and teach you how to navigate the area. Several tour options are available: a 1-hour “Discovery” tour, a 1.5-hour “Exploration” tour, or a special 2-hour tour where you’ll visit all of Mimizan’s most charming spots.
Come try the Mimizan Municipal Golf Course and discover its exceptional setting. Located between the lake and the ocean, the Mimizan Municipal Golf Course offers a 9-hole course suitable for players of all skill levels. Your round will be varied, featuring both flat sections and hilly terrain among the dunes. The course is technically challenging, featuring fairways, doglegs, and slopes. A practice area is available for you to hone your skills—feel free to stop by before heading out onto the main course.
Come learn to surf at Mimizan Beach! A passionate and experienced instructor will lead your private or group lesson. Your instructor will tailor the lesson to your needs, taking into account your prior surfing experience, your physical fitness, and your comfort level with the ocean. You can take a private or group lesson, sign up for a week-long course, or simply rent a board and a wetsuit to go surfing on your own. Wetsuits are cleaned after each use with a Bacterless rinse and diluted chlorine.
Ride your jet ski freely on the ocean and discover the Landes coastline while getting your fill of thrills! No license required and open to anyone 16 and older, jet skiing is a very popular activity among vacationers. You’ll be supervised by a certified instructor throughout the activity. Several packages are available when you rent a jet ski: a 20-minute introductory jet ski session, a full one-hour adventure tour, or a 10-minute jet ski trial ride.
The bell tower and porch of the Saint-Marie-de-Mimizan Church are the last remaining vestiges of the 12th-century Benedictine priory. Its brick walls conceal one of the most beautiful carved portals in France. Created in the early 13th century, this monument of medieval art has perfectly preserved its polychrome decoration and features one of the oldest French depictions of Saint James of Compostela. You’ll also find 15th-century murals in the bell tower porch. This monument was designated a “historic monument” in 1903 and 1955, and was later designated a World Heritage Site in 1988 as part of the Way of St. James.
