Sculpture workshop: learn to model alongside a craftsman

Book an artistic sculpture and modeling workshop to learn how to create shapes in volume and relief using clay, stone, plaster or metal!

Discover sculpture and its many techniques

There are 5 different sculpting techniques:

Modeling

This technique uses malleable materials (clay, plastiline clay, modeling wax, expanded or extruded polystyrene foam, extruded or expanded polyurethane foam, etc.). Shapes are formed by hand or with spatulas and blanks.

Cutting

This direct creation involves carving into a block of stone, marble, stone or wood. Carving was used by sculptors in ancient Greece and Rome to build their statues.

Molding

This operation is used to reproduce ceramic sculptures using molded impressions (with plaster or gelatin). In ceramics, a hollow plaster mold is filled to produce a series of identical or complex objects.

Casting

Materials, generally metals or liquid alloys, are poured into a mold, then cooled. Casting keeps finishing to a minimum.

Assembly (modern technique)

This artistic technique, which emerged in the 20th century, enables us to divert and stage different objects. The sculpture is formed from materials assembled together.
