Discover the daily life of a beekeeper during a half-day immersion experience in Daux. This experience will give you a better understanding of how a beehive works, the essential role of bees in our ecosystem, and the different stages of beekeeping. Combining theory, hands-on observation, and tasting, this activity is both educational and a treat for the palate.

Activity itinerary:

  • Welcome at the apiary and overview of the experience.
  • Discover the world of bees: colony organization, the roles of the queen, worker bees, and drones, the life cycle, and the importance of pollination.
  • Put on a protective beekeeper’s jacket before heading to the apiary.
  • Open a hive alongside the beekeeper to observe the bees at work and learn to identify the brood, pollen, and honey stores.
  • Introduction to using the smoker and learning the essential techniques of beekeeping.
  • Guided tasting of different varieties of honey and an introduction to apitherapy products.
