Head Spa in Lyon’s 6th arrondissement
A perfect way to unwind. Stéphanie is very attentive. I'd highly recommend her."
A Head Spa is a scalp treatment combining massage, hair care and deep relaxation. It aims to revitalise the scalp while offering total relaxation. Specific hair treatments are then applied, and the session ends with a rinse and a moment of relaxation.
Originally from Japan, the Head Spa draws on Japanese wellness rituals combining beauty and relaxation.
A Head Spa session begins with a scalp diagnosis, followed by a gentle wash and a targeted massage to stimulate circulation.
The Head Spa helps reduce stress, improve blood circulation and cleanse the scalp. It also leaves hair shinier and more revitalised.
A session usually lasts between 30 minutes and 2 hours.
A Head Spa includes hair care with specific products in addition to the massage, whereas a scalp massage focuses solely on scalp relaxation.
Seven addresses in Lyon offer Head Spa treatments, from a discovery session at €70 to a two hour ritual. Formulas vary widely, here's what each one includes.
The longest ritual here lasts two hours and starts with a full body massage before moving on to the scalp treatment. Few Lyon addresses go quite that far.
If you'd rather try it first, the one hour fifteen session is more than enough, in fact, it's our best seller! Stéphanie only sees women, in her salon two minutes from Masséna metro station.
Rare at this price point: the head spa opens with a visual scalp diagnostic, followed by soothing steam, a detox cleansing treatment, and a scalp massage.
An express facial treatment rounds off the session, just steps from Saint-Jean Cathedral. Note that the treatment is reserved for those aged fourteen and over.
Plan to leave with damp hair, as blow drying isn't included in the treatment, a detail worth bearing in mind if you have somewhere else to be afterwards.
The ritual can be extended all the way up to light therapy and a hand massage, depending on the formula, with a private spa bookable as an add-on.
Everything on the menu is organic and natural, and the concept store next door lets you take home the products used during your session.
The Sensei treatment goes up to 1h15 with a facial treatment included. One minute from Ampère metro station, right in the heart of Ainay.
You can feel the hairdressing roots in this protocol: a scalp massage, followed by neck and shoulder work, before finishing with a blow-dry.
The blow dry is included using Kevin Murphy products. Note that only the Part-Dieu salon has a dedicated head spa space, the other two Lyon addresses don't.
The shirotchampi method extends the treatment to the chest, forearms and arms, going further than most protocols, which usually stop at the scalp.
The Détente Formula includes a steam bath, exfoliation, and blow dry, using Umaï, Oden and A la Rose products. Tram T3, Bel Air stop.
Here, it's recommended to arrive with unwashed hair so the scalp diagnostic can be based on its real condition.
The plant based rinse uses an infusion of rose petals, hibiscus and clove. Good to know: free parking right outside, genuinely convenient for a session lasting several hours.
