Survival training: everything you need to know to get started ?

Accompanied by an instructor guide throughout the course, you'll learn how to survive in the wild. During this adventure, you'll have to make do with limited equipment (indicated in advance of the activity) and learn to adopt the right attitude in extreme conditions!

Why a survival training?

The aim of the survival training is to teach you the techniques you need to be self-sufficient in a hostile environment. You'll learn the basics of feeding, sleeping and getting around without outside help.

You'll be able to disconnect from technology and the stresses of everyday life. We say goodbye to concrete paths, overloaded mailboxes and all things urban.

It's a breath of fresh air. We reconnect with nature, with its share of "nasty surprises" (insect bites, torrential rain), but also unrivalled well-being: warming up by the fire, sleeping under the stars, fishing....

Different types of survival training

There are some notable differences between the various survival trainings. These include :

  • Nature courses : you'll find yourself in a classic natural environment, such as the French countryside. The aim is to learn how to make shelters and recognize edible plants, so as to survive as long as possible in a hostile environment. This is the most common type of course, generally accessible to children.
  • Bushcraft course : the aim here is to create comfort in a natural environment. A bit like trappers, you'll learn the main construction techniques while minimizing environmental impact.
  • The commando or military course lets you experience life as a soldier. Here, the nature aspect is less pronounced. You'll have to push yourself to the limit, both physically and mentally. These courses will enable you to develop skills in camouflage, combat, shooting and survival.
  • The "Grand Froid" course teaches you to live in extreme cold conditions. You'll learn how to build an igloo, identify edible foods in the snow, and get around without too much difficulty.

How does the course work?

What are the survival techniques?

survival trainings last between one and four days. You'll be immersed in a wilderness environment and learn survival techniques:

  • building a shelter
  • orienting
  • tool-making
  • feeding yourself independently

A professional guide is on hand to support you. He or she will teach you the techniques listed above, while ensuring your safety.

What's in the survival kit?

For the more experienced, we recommend extreme offers in hostile environments. You need to find out the level of difficulty of the course, so that it matches your expectations.

Survival kits generally include

  • A sharp Swiss Army knife
  • A warm comforter
  • A windbreaker
  • Water bottle to collect spring or filtered water
  • A headlamp
  • A survival kit for first aid
  • Lighter or kit for making your own fire

It's sure to be an exciting and original adventure, and you're sure to get a taste for the wild!
