Program :

Coastal and/or river boating license in Nantes

Training is divided into two stages:

Theory:

• You study the maritime code (minimum 5 hours in class) and benefit from e-learning access to revise at your own pace, wherever you are.
• On the program: buoyage, signals and lights, helm rules, safety, VHF radio, chart reading...
• You take a 40-question MCQ exam with 5 mistakes allowed.

Practical training :

• This lasts 3h30 and takes place on the Erdre with a certified professional instructor.
• You'll learn how to maneuver: docking, mooring, taking on a trunk, managing a man overboard, etc.

Coastal or river boating license: what's the difference?

• The coastal boating license allows you to sail a boat under 24 m in length, or pilot a jet-ski, up to 6 miles from a shelter on the open sea (with no power limit).
• The fluvial license allows you to navigate rivers and canals with a boat under 20 m.
