Lens-Bénifontaine aerodrome: a site on the outskirts of Lens for discovering skydiving

The aerodrome is located in the commune of Bénifontaine, ten minutes from Lens by road, and offers tandem skydiving baptisms from the skies of Nord Pas de Calais and its unique landscapes.

How the jump takes place

• On arrival at the skydiving school, you'll receive a 10-minute briefing from your instructor, who will introduce you to the free-fall and landing positions. He also explains the safety instructions to be followed.
• You are then fitted with a wetsuit, jump goggles and the harness that connects you to your tandem instructor.
• Once equipped, you board the plane for a 15-minute ascent. From the window, you can admire the region's unique landscape, including the mining basin, the twin slag heaps of Loos-en-Gohelle, the Canadian memorial at Vimy, the Nécropole Nationale de Notre Dame de Lorette, and the Félix Bollaert stadium.
• At an altitude of 4,000 m, the plane's door opens for the long-awaited moment of the big jump! During the free fall at 200 km/h, which lasts around 50 seconds, you'll experience incredible sensations.
• At an altitude of 1,500 m, your instructor opens the parachute. During the next 5 to 8 minutes of descent under canopy, you'll enjoy a breathtaking view of the Pays d'Artois.
• The professional instructor controls the parachute's canopy all the way to a smooth landing on the Bénifontaine airfield. After touching down, you can recover from your emotions while the instructor refolds the parachute.

And to immortalize this unique experience, a "photo and video" option is available: a professional videographer follows you throughout your adventure, from the ground to the plane, during freefall (from 4000m to 1500m) and on landing.
