Airplane flight: everything you need to know for a memorable event ✈️

Do you love soaring high above exceptional panoramas? Are you a fan of aviation and thrills? Are aerobatics and the pleasure of flying among your passions?

Then don't hesitate any longer and book a private plane flight with a private pilot on Funbooker!

Principe of the activity: visit a region from the sky on board a plane

How does a private sightseeing flight work?

Step 1️⃣: arrival

First of all, meet up at the airfield or altiport (small landing field in the high mountains). Once there, one of the airline's private instructor pilots will brief you.

.

Then it's time to board. In light aviation, there's no waiting time at all, unlike when boarding an airliner! You may even have to go through a flight simulator before taking the next step.

Step 2️⃣: take-off

Then comes one of the most thrilling moments: take-off. Take-off is, of course, subject to current weather conditions. Weather permitting, you'll be able to fly over the region and enjoy the splendid panoramas.

.

The professional pilot will take the controls of your two-seater. He'll tell you all about the landscapes you'll be flying over. Some pilots will even let you enjoy a session of aerobatics in the air, if you wish.

Step 3️⃣: landing

Finally, after many minutes in the air, it's time to land. Once on the ground, the pilot and passengers will debrief.

The different types of light aircraft

First of all, there's a highly varied range of powered ultralights, also known as ULMs. These can be multi-axis, pendular, gyrocopter or simple gliders. They can also be dual-control ultralight helicopters.

  • Pendulum ULMs are single-engine aircraft. Their flexible wing supports a motorized cart.
  • Multi-axis ULMs are supported by a fixed wing, and gyrocopters by a rotor.
  • Helicopteric ULMs, on the other hand, are single-engine rotorcraft.

In civil aviation, other means of transport are authorized. You can take a seat in a glider, a helicopter, an aerobatic plane, a flight school plane or a sightseeing plane. All these machines are equipped with parachutes.

Top spots for sightseeing flights

France is a magnificent country. But few people are aware of its beauty from the air. Discover the sumptuous landscapes of our magnificent regions from another angle, seen from above!

Côte Émeraude

The Emerald Coast, is so called because of the emerald green color of the sea at certain times. This coastline lies along the north-east coast of Brittany, between the Pointe du Grouin in Cancale and Cap Fréhel in Plévenon.

It stretches across Ille-et-Vilaine and Côtes-d'Armor. It covers Saint-Malo, the Rance estuary and Dinard. It is crossed by the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel and the Bay of Saint-Brieuc.

This superb coastline is a must-see at any time of day. Its medieval towns, lush vegetation and colorful sea will delight you at every turn.

Medieval city of Albi

Albi is the capital of Tarn, in the Occitanie region. It is also the seat of the archbishopric. The ochre bricks of its cathedral and historic center have earned it the nickname of the "red city"

Albi is one of the wonders counted among UNESCO's World Heritage sites. The majestic fortified cathedral "Sainte-Cécile" and the Palais de la Berbie (former palace of the archbishops of Albi) dominate the historic city center and the river.

Survey these splendors and the surrounding banks of the Tarn. The Pont Vieux and numerous historic monuments will delight your eyes. For a breathtaking flyover, take to the skies at sunrise or sunset.

You can then savor the vision of blazing ochre bricks in the sunlight.

Loire castles

The châteaux of the Loire are French architectural gems. These magnificent structures, already sublime on the ground, take on even greater beauty when seen from above. You'll see architectural feats you'd never have imagined from the ground.

Whether you're flying over the châteaux of Chenonceaux, Chissay, Montrichard or Aigues-Vives, you'll enjoy incredible views. The châteaux of Razay, Montpoupon, La Pagode de Chanteloup, Amboise, Chaumont, Saint-Aignan and Beauval are also particularly splendid historical monuments.

Mont Blanc and the Alps

Are you in the Alps? Then don't miss the chance to fly over the Mont-Blanc massif. This mountain range will offer you grandiose natural landscapes.

The Mont-Blanc and its eternal snows will dazzle you with their white splendor. Climb to the top of Europe's highest mountain range (4,809 m). Because of its altitude and the small number of valleys it contains, this massif is uninhabited.

Glacials occupy the depressions all the way down into the valleys. If you can, take the opportunity to fly over Lake Annecy, a superb body of water surrounded by mountains.

The Arcachon basin

The Arcachon Basin is a lagoon located in the Landes de Gascogne, in Gironde. It stretches between La Teste-de-Buch, Lège-Cap-Ferret and the Leyre delta. This basin is the only one to interrupt the 250 km-long dune belt of the Côte d'Argent.

It is largely open to the ocean and constitutes an inland sea (155 km² at high tide and 40 km² at low tide). Oyster farming, fishing and pleasure boating are all practiced here. It is also home to a nature park.

Fly over this scrub of unspoilt nature and enjoy an encounter with the wild birds that populate it by the thousands. Admire the animals in their natural environment and the iridescence of the sun on the water.

Flying over the Arcachon Basin will never be the same. Rising and falling tides transform this magnificent landscape every day.
