Indoor freefall simulator: everything you need to know about the indoor wind tunnel experience

Fancy trying out something a little more original? Discover the free-fall simulator in a wind tunnel that reproduces the sensation of a real skydive, indoors!

It's the perfect activity to offer as a gift. Find out everything you need to know with Funbooker before getting involved!

What is a wind tunnel?

A wind tunnel system replicates the free-fall experience of parachute jumping inside a giant glass tube.

The wind speed varies between 120 and 270 km/h (depending on your weight), enabling you to experience exactly the same sensations as you would in freefall. You'll be positioned with your arms outstretched and in a horizontal, arched position.

The vertical wind tunnel uses a permanent, regular flow of air to reproduce the exact feeling of freefall, but at a much lower cost. It's also a great way to practise before a real skydive!

How your session will pan out

When you arrive at the center, you'll be briefed for about a quarter of an hour on the proper flying techniques and safety rules. You'll then be fitted with a suit, goggles and helmet.

Next, you'll take your place in the tube, and set off for a flight of around 2.5 minutes, equivalent to 3 parachute jumps from a height of 4,000 meters. An instructor is on hand in the flight chamber to guide you and teach you the correct positions.

So there's no need to worry, you're perfectly safe and in good hands. During this flight, you'll first learn how to stabilize yourself horizontally and maintain a correct position, exactly as you would during a skydiving lesson!

And don’t forget, the first goal of a skydiving experience is always to make sure you enjoy yourself and experience the thrill of indoor skydiving.
