Immerse yourself in the rich history of FC Barcelona with this small-group guided walking tour through Les Corts, the neighborhood where the club was founded.
Your expert local guide will bring the past to life as you explore the iconic sites that shaped the Blaugrana legend.
Visit the site of the original stadium, the legendary La Masia, as well as the spots where fans used to gather. Discover little-known stories over a complimentary beer at an iconic location.
What’s on the itinerary:
- Start your journey at Bar Mangle, located on the exact spot where Camp de les Corts once stood (1922–1957). Over a complimentary beer, discover how Spanish and Catalan soccer has evolved, and learn more about FC Barcelona’s early years at its original stadium.
- Continue on to the legendary Pi de les Corts, a century-old pine tree that served as an iconic meeting spot for thousands of fans before matches. From 1922 to 1957, the phrase “let’s meet at the pine tree” was as common as “let’s meet at Canaletes” is today.
- As we pass by the Corts Market, one of the neighborhood’s most beloved local institutions, we’ll take a moment to learn a few soccer terms in Catalan—because speaking the city’s language means speaking the language of the game. What does “Camp Nou” really mean? What is a “soci,” and why is it important? And why, perhaps, does knowing how to say “butt” in Catalan turn out to be more useful during a soccer game than you might think?
- Discover Can Fuste, the iconic neighborhood restaurant where Barça players have been gathering for decades. In 1981, this establishment became a makeshift police headquarters during the 25 dramatic days of the kidnapping of star forward Quini—one of the most shocking moments in the history of Spanish soccer.
- Along the way, we’ll pass bythe Hospital de la Maternitat —where many of FC Barcelona’s greatest players were born—and discover one of the club’s most compelling stories: how Barça became a symbol of Catalan identity and democratic resistance under Franco’s dictatorship.
- At the back entrance of La Masia, we’ll pause to admire some of the most iconic photos from FC Barcelona’s modern era: Ronaldinho, Messi, and Lamine Yamal.
- Walk to the original La Masia building (built in 1702), the iconic farmhouse that housed FC Barcelona’s legendary youth academy from 1979 to 2011. Although the building is currently under renovation and cannot be entered, this is where Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, and countless other stars lived and trained, making this the most successful soccer academy in history.
- Walk through the Corts Cemetery, where Barça legends are laid to rest, including the incomparable Ladislao Kubala, whose arrival in 1950 changed the club forever and led to the construction of Camp Nou.
- End your tour in front of Camp Nou, where your guide will connect Barcelona’s past, present, and future—particularly through the ambitious Espai Barça project—before wrapping up with a Kahoot quiz on soccer, with prizes for the winners.
