Paintballing: everything you need to know

Want to let off some steam? Try paintballing with Funbooker and enjoy a wild time with your mates. Paintball is theiconic activity for bachelor parties, but it can also be enjoyed as part of a team building or birthday party. Find out more in our guide.

What is paintball?

Paintball is a sport in which players are divided into two teams on a field and compete according to a game mode. The activity begins with a safety briefing by an on-site instructor, who will ensure that safety rules are observed throughout the game!

Once in the arena, the aim is simple: to hit as many opponents as possible. When a player is hit, he shouts, raises his arms and leaves the paintball field. The team without more players loses!

To win, you'll need to be strategic and precise when shooting. You can camouflage yourself with natural elements or hide behind or in the obstacles at your disposal: trees, huts, old car bodies, etc...

The equipment

Paintball centers supply all the equipment you need for the activity:

  • A paintball or airsoft-type compressed-air paintball launcher. Guns are often semi-automatic. For children, adapted guns are available.
  • A mask to protect your face (never remove it on the field).
  • A suit to protect your clothes.
  • Some centers also offer chest protectors and gloves, while others offer optional extra weapons such as smoke grenades to mask you during the game.

Scenarios

To add a little spice to the game, different game modes have been invented. Here are the most fun ones:

  • The President/Bodyguard: in each team, a VIP is the man to kill. You have to protect the President as if you were his bodyguard.
  • Capture the Flag: a flag is set up in the middle of the field, out in the open and clearly visible. The aim is to capture the flag and bring it back to the base. If you're hit, you leave the flag where you were eliminated.
  • The Fort: one team sets up in a fort to protect it at all costs. The other team attacks the fort with the aim of detonating a bomb inside.

Safety rules to observe

If you want to have a good time, there are a few safety rules you need to observe:

  • Wear your mask at all times during the game.
  • Respect the minimum shooting distance: this is set by the center you have chosen, and generally varies between 7 and 10 meters.
  • The barrel must be capped outside the playing area, to avoid accidental shots.
  • Prohibition of alcohol consumption on the entire range.

As you can see, paintball is a super-fun activity for friends!
