Discover the best canyoning experience near Marbella!

Set out to conquer the Angosturas, the narrow gorge carved by the Guadalmina River in the Benahavís mountains, about 30 minutes from Marbella. Suitable for beginners and families alike, this canyoning route is accessible year-round thanks to its mild waters and sheltered microclimate.

Canyoning in the Guadalmina Canyon

Guided tour – 3 hours – All skill levels

Rated Level 1, the canyon alternates between walking sections, swimming in natural pools, and narrow passages where the walls close in to less than one meter. The descent takes about 2.5 hours through a protected natural area in the heart of the Sierra Bermeja.

Obstacles: 5 to 7 jumps into pools up to 6 meters deep (all optional), a 2-meter natural slide, and a 4-meter rappel.

Your guide: You’ll be led by professional guides certified in canyoning and trained in first aid, as part of a team led by José, a mountain guide who has been exploring the canyons of Andalusia for over 20 years. They’ll adjust the pace to suit the group and share their knowledge of this exceptional site with you.

How does it work?

Your guide will meet you in the Benahavís parking lot 15 minutes before departure to organize the groups and distribute equipment: wetsuit, harness, and helmet. After a 5-minute walk to the canyon entrance and a safety briefing, the descent begins. On the way back, expect a roughly 15-minute walk back to the meeting point.

Whether with friends, family, or as a couple, this half-day outing is an excellent introduction to canyoning on the Costa del Sol. Since the jumps are optional, everyone proceeds at their own pace.

  • A 5-mm full-body neoprene wetsuit.
