Canyon d’Angon – The Classic

Just steps from Lake Annecy, the Angon canyon is the local reference point, offering two different routes: one for beginners and one more technical for experienced adventurers.

Beginners will discover canyoning with small jumps, abseils, and natural slides, while seasoned canyoneers start off with the spectacular 40 m Angon waterfall, followed by an 18 m rappel leading to the unusual “mailbox passage.”

Canyon de Montmin – Perfect for Discovery

Close to the lake in Vesonne, the Montmin canyon is one of the region’s must-dos.

After a short forest walk, enjoy 1 km of descent with two abseils, jumps of 3–4 m (and one final 7 m jump), and limestone slides shaped by nature. It’s the perfect playground for a first canyoning experience.

Accessible from age 14, this fun route is ideal for families or friends looking to share an active adventure.

Canyon de la Mine – In Doussard

South of Doussard, in the Bauges massif, Canyon de la Mine offers a wilder, sportier challenge.

Starting from Lathuile, you’ll tackle a technical route carved through limestone corridors, with dramatic waterfalls reaching up to 40 m. Expect an intense adventure that lasts about four hours—ideal for thrill-seekers.

Canyon du Pont du Diable – An Exceptional Setting

Nestled in the Bauges massif, Pont du Diable impresses with its narrow gorge and vertical cliffs soaring over 50 m.

This aquatic hike is short but intense, alternating swims, rappels, slides, and optional jumps. The route starts off gently, before plunging into a dramatic gorge where the scenery does all the talking. In spring, snowmelt makes the descent even more demanding.

Canyon de Seythenex – Ideal for Beginners

A smaller, family-friendly canyon perfect for children and beginners who want to discover canyoning in a relaxed way.

With waterfalls, abseils up to 11 m, natural slides of 6 m, and fun potholes, this descent has everything needed for a playful adventure. It’s especially popular for weekends, bachelor/bachelorette parties, or group outings.

Prices

💰 Half-day sessions usually cost between $50 and $150 per person, while full-day outings range from $100 to $250. The price generally includes equipment rental (wetsuit, helmet, harness, ropes) and the guidance of a certified instructor.

What to Wear

👟 Wear a swimsuit under the wetsuit provided, plus old sneakers or canyoning shoes with good grip (they’ll get wet). Bring a towel and a dry change of clothes for afterward. A waterproof camera or GoPro is optional but perfect for capturing the adventure.
