Course of the activity :

  • Welcome at the center before departure for the boat
  • Board the RIB and head out to sea.
  • Approaching the cetaceans before launching into the water
  • Once in the water, you can let the cetaceans swim around you in complete safety.
  • Return by RIB to shore and center

Know before you go

  • This activity is open only to people over the age of 12 who already have experience snorkeling with fins, a mask, and a snorkel.
  • Participants must be able to swim 200 meters with this equipment at a steady pace and feel comfortable in the ocean, in open water.
  • The outing is subject to weather conditions and safety conditions at sea.
  • This activity is organized in strict compliance with the Cetacean Encounter Charter and the rules established by the Réunion Marine Nature Reserve. Our priority is to ensure the well-being of the animals we encounter. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that you will enter the water or encounter a specific species: each outing depends on natural conditions and the animals’ behavior.
  • All the necessary equipment for entering the water will be provided. To prepare your gear, we’ll ask you to provide the following information for each participant:
    • Height
    • Weight
    • Shoe size
  • The usual medical contraindications associated with scuba diving also apply to this activity, including:
    • Asthma (even if it was in the past)
    • Epilepsy
    • Heart problems
    • Pregnancy
    • If you have a significant medical history, a medical certificate stating there are no contraindications may be required (from your primary care physician or a sports medicine physician).
  • In the event of a cancellation due to weather conditions or safety conditions at sea, you will be offered a new date on a priority basis.
    If rescheduling is not possible, you will receive a full refund for the activity.
