From the Saint-Louis keep to the medieval fortifications of the Tours et Remparts d'Aigues-Mortes. As the town was linked to the Mediterranean by canal, Aigues-Mortes turned its towers into prisons. Then, following the revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685, Protestants were imprisoned here.
