Go beyond the famous palace and discover a side of Versailles that most visitors rarely take the time to explore. Accompanied by an expert guide, you’ll explore the royal gardens, hidden groves, and the Trianon Estate before concluding with a self-guided tour of the palace.

The Tour - Versailles

Duration: 5 hours – Guided tour

This 5-hour tour will take you through the royal gardens of Versailles, from the Orangery to the Grande Perspective, passing by the fountains and hidden groves. Your guide will recount the history of these gardens, designed by André Le Nôtre, and their role in showcasing the power of Louis XIV.

You’ll then have some free time to have lunch in the Petite Venise neighborhood before taking the little train to the Trianon Estate. You’ll explore the Grand Trianon, the Petit Trianon, and the Queen’s Hamlet, a rustic retreat created for Marie Antoinette.

On the way back, your guide will discuss the major events that shaped Versailles and its role during the French Revolution. You’ll then be able to explore the palace at your own pace using the included “Passport” ticket.

You’ll discover:

  • The history of the royal gardens of Versailles
  • The Orangery and the Grand Perspective
  • The fountains and hidden groves
  • The work of André Le Nôtre and the symbolism of the gardens
  • The Trianon Estate

  • Historical events linked to Versailles and the French Revolution
  • The Grand Apartments and the Hall of Mirrors: Self-Guided Tour
  • An exhibition exploring the ties between Versailles and the United States to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence
