Canyoning in the Gorges de Galamus
Guided tour - 2h30 to 4h - All levels
The team looks forward to meeting you at the Gorges de Galamus in St Paul de Fenouillet (66). In the heart of the Cathar countryside, you can try your hand at canyoning with family or friends. A cross between climbing and hiking, canyoning is an outdoor sport that lets you descend small rivers and waterfalls.
Obstacles: slides, jumps and abseils.
The guide : you'll be accompanied by a state-certified guide, who'll listen to your every need and make sure you have an unforgettable time.
How does it work?
You'll be greeted at the Axat base by the professional team, who'll get you kitted out and explain the safety rules. Corinne will then take you by bus to the start of the canyon. Several options are available:
- Canyon Découverte 2h30: canyon Galamus or Thermes, beginner/advanced level
- Canyon Sportif 3h30: canyon Llech, l'Artigues, beginner/advanced level
- Canyon Sportif 4h : canyon Aneilles, Calsan, Thues, confirmed/sporty level
You can also discover many other activities at the Axat base, including rafting, canorafting, hydrospeed and via ferrata. Don't hesitate to try out several!
We've got everything you need for a great day out, including a picnic area, a snack bar with fast food, ample parking and individual changing rooms.

The site is very pretty, and the water is not very cold. On the other hand, the guide was immediately nonchalant, judgmental and had no sense of humor. Although we'd come to spend a pleasant moment, hoping to enjoy the view while having fun, this wasn't the case at all. We weren't allowed to move a toe out of line, or risk being excluded from the group. Professional posture and communication to review. And yet, the course is very simple. At least, for a first experience, it's fun. Cannyoning regulars, on the other hand, will have to make do with the fact that it's excessive for what it is. The site is largely accessible without a guide.
