Discover cyanotype, an old photographic process that lets you create beautiful Prussian blue prints from your own compositions. Take a trip back in time and let your creativity run wild as you experiment with light, shapes, and textures.

Workshop Overview:

• Learn about the history of cyanotype and its invention in 1842 by the English scientist and astronomer John Frederick William Herschel.
• Gain a basic understanding of the role of light and UV rays in this photographic process.
• Compose your own artwork using negatives, dried flowers, prints, lace, stencils, or various layered elements.
• If you’d like, bring your own materials and objectsto personalize your creations.
• Expose your compositions to UV light: the sun becomes your true photographic tool!
• Gradually develop your prints with water and watch as different shades of blue emerge.
• Take home the creations you made during the workshop.
