Discover the art of shibori in this creative workshop. With Delphine as your guide, learn this Japanese indigo-dyeing technique, which allows you to create unique patterns by folding and tying the fabric in various ways. You’ll create several personalized pieces while discovering the secrets of natural dyeing.

Workshop itinerary:

• Learn how the indigo vat works, the pigments used, and the chemical reactions that allow the color to set permanently on the fabric
• Learn the different shibori techniques by mastering various methods of folding, tying, and resist dyeing to create original patterns
• Immerse your fabrics in the indigo vat for the first time and observe how the color changes upon contact with air during oxidation
• Repeat the dyeing baths to intensify the shades and achieve beautiful shades of blue
• Unfold your creations to reveal the unique patterns you’ve created, then set the colors permanently

At the end of the workshop, you ’ll leave with your indigo-dyed fabrics—entirely crafted by you—as well as the basics of the shibori technique so you can continue creating at home.
