Discover the secrets of mochi and matcha tea during a workshop led by Sakura, a passionate Japanese chef. Trained in traditional Japanese pastry making and the tea ceremony at the Omotesenke school, she’ll share her expertise and the traditions of her country with you in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Workshop itinerary (2 hours):

• Welcome with seasonal Japanese green tea —a chance to get to know each other and learn about the workshop program
• Immerse yourself in the world of Japanese cuisine by learning about the history of mochi, the unique characteristics of traditional Japanese pastries, and the key principles of the tea ceremony
• Make your own mochi using shiratama-ko flour and red bean paste (anko). You can make them in their traditional form or customize them with a fruity filling
• Learn how to prepare authentic Kyoto matcha tea using traditional utensils, including the famous bamboo whisk, while mastering the essential techniques for making it
• Conclude the workshop with a tasting of your creations and discover the subtle pairings between mochi and matcha tea during a friendly get-together

At the end of the workshop, you ’ll take home the mochi you ’ve made, along with the essential techniques and tips for recreating these Japanese specialties at home.
