Discover the art ofJapanese Shibori, an ancient textile dyeing technique that invites you to slow down, experiment, and create with your hands. Throughout the workshop, you’ll explore different folding, tying, and resist techniques that reveal unique patterns during the dyeing process.

Workshop Schedule (2 hours):

  • Welcome and introduction: an introduction to the world of shibori and its various sources of inspiration.
  • Presentation of techniques: learning methods of folding, tying, and fabric resist.
  • Creative process: Selecting fabric and patterns, and defining your artistic vision.
  • Preparing your design: creating the folds and compositions that will give rise to your pattern.
  • Dyeing: Immersing the fabric in the dye bath with step-by-step guidance.
  • Revealing the patterns: Unfolding the creations and discovering the unique designs that have emerged.
  • Discussion time: care tips and sharing insights about everyone’s creations.

You’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind textile piece that you’ve dyed and created yourself, reflecting your creativity and sensibility. An immersive and soothing workshop to discover traditional Japanese craftsmanship and create a unique textile work of art.
