Looking for an original activity to do with children aged 5 to 12? La Ferme Ouvert de Saint-Cyr-l'Ecole offers a butter churning workshop for the curious .
Here's how it works: children learn how butter is made. An animator will explain the machines and utensils needed to make butter at the Farm. At the end of the workshop, they'll be invited to taste a roll buttered with farm butter.
The Butter workshop gives access to the entire Ferme de Gally in Saint-Cyr-l'Ecole, including a visit to the animals. Children will be able to admire the goats, sheep, cows, pigs, hair, donkeys, pigs and chickens of the Ferme Ouverte. At least one accompanying adult must be present for the farm visit and activity.

Very good workshop. To improve it, we'd have to find something to isolate the glass jars from the children's hands. They were disappointed not to be able to obtain butter on their own. There were a lot of them, more than expected. In that case, they could use a little help to distribute the cream (or involve a parent). The picture shows the use of a churn, but this was not the case: too bad, it would have been easier for the children. Change the image or suggest churns.
