Discover the fascinating world of wood marquetry during a creative workshop. Guided by a passionate artisan, you’ll learn the techniques of this ancient decorative art and create four unique coasters by assembling different types of wood.

Workshop Schedule (3 hours):

• Introduction to marquetry and welcome to the workshop: delve into the history of this decorative art, known since ancient times and particularly popular in the 18th century for embellishing furniture.
• Choosing a design and wood species: Select your design from several suggested templates (or create your own) and then choose the wood species that will make up your creation.
• Cutting the pieces: Learn how to use a scroll saw to precisely cut the thin sheets of wood that will form your design.
• Assembly and gluing: Assemble the different pieces like a puzzle before attaching them to your base.
• Sanding and finishing: Enhance your creation with the final finishing touches to reveal the wood’s natural beauty.

At the end of this workshop, you’ll leave with your four personalized coasters, made with your own hands, as well as a new appreciation for this meticulous and creative craft.
