Cap Canaille is Europe's highest sea cliff (394 m). Rare in Provence, it's an agglomeration of varied rocks offering an exceptional playground for adventure.

The Philémon route is both sporty and thrilling, combining abseiling, cave exploration and easy climbing on the Cap Canaille cliff. Starting from the lookouts along the Route des Crêtes, overlooking the towns of Cassis and La Ciotat, you'll wind your way through this ochre-colored cliff, sculpted by time and the sea winds.

Isolated and open to the sea and the Bay of Cassis, numerous concretions and caves serve as promontories, adding to the indescribable atmosphere of this route.

How does it work?

The activity begins with a 100 m abseiling descent to the grotte du 14 juillet. This is followed by a hike and climb through the chimneys and concretions of the Philémon trail to reach the Sémaphore.
