From the Saint-Nazaire–Montoir Airport, discover what it’s like to fly a multi-axis microlight with an instructor by your side. The landscapes of the estuary and the coastline offer a varied setting in which to learn how to observe your surroundings, orient yourself, and operate the controls.
With a 90- or 120-minute flight, you’ll have more time to practice and understand how the aircraft responds. The scenery is well worth the trip, but the controls will also require your full attention.
Your itinerary:
Depending on the direction chosen, the flight may take you over the landscapes of the Loire Estuary and Saint-Brevin, La Baule Bay, the wild coast and Le Croisic, or the salt marshes of Guérande and La Brière. To the north, the Vilaine Estuary and the area around La Roche-Bernard offer other landmarks.
You may express your preferences before departure. The route will be adapted to educational objectives, weather conditions, and air traffic; no specific itinerary covering all of these locations is guaranteed.
How the activity unfolds:
- Preparing for the session: Before heading to the runway, you’ll discuss your expectations and any prior experience with your instructor. They’ll introduce you to the aircraft, the controls, safety procedures, and the flight plan.
- Getting Your Bearings in Flight: Under the instructor’s supervision, you’ll discover how the controls work and practice maintaining level flight, following a flight path, and making turns. The session progresses according to your comfort level. The instructor alternates between explanations, demonstrations, and exercises to help you progress at your own pace. You’ll also learn the importance of observation and ground reference points for navigation.
- Reviewing the experience after landing: Back at the airfield, a debriefing provides an opportunity to discuss your impressions, the exercises you completed, and the concepts you’d like to explore further.
