Activity description :

Bohémond welcomes you a few kilometers from Paris, for a full day to discover the art of ancestral pottery. In a friendly atmosphere, you'll first head off into the forest to learn about clay in its natural environment and primitive firing techniques.

Course of the activity (7h):

  • Morning:
    • Recognition of different soil textures and in particular clay in its wild environment.
    • Explanation and practice of clay purification methods to make it ready for use.
    • Demonstration of the many uses of clay, from cosmetics and medicine to pottery and construction.
  • Lunch (not included) all together around the fire: lighting the fire to launch lunch and pottery firing
  • Afternoon:
    • Continuation of pottery firing, with instruction in the various steps involved
    • While the pottery is being fired, we model the clay taken directly from our educational hamlet to practice making ancient pottery.
  • Each participant leaves with his or her own creation.

Bonus: you'll receive a digital PDF booklet with all the key points and steps summarized.

Bohémond invites you to join us for a day of learning and sharing, all in a small group, to guarantee conviviality and personalized support. You'll travel through history to understand the essential role played by this mineral resource in almost every known civilization.
