Course of the workshop (2h):

  • You'll learn how to knead clay, then center it on a mini-potter's wheel.
  • You'll create unique mini-vases, mini-bowls or mini-cups, each piece reflecting your personality.
  • A professional will guide you through the process of shaping your object.
  • Each participant will leave with his or her own creation.

We did the mini potter's wheel workshop as a family. The facilitator explained how to use the wheel for 5 minutes at the start of the workshop, and how to make a small object. Then she left us to our own devices for the rest of the time (around 1h50). She chatted with her colleague. When we asked if we shouldn't wear an apron, she told us no, because clay (well, ceramics) leaches... As a result, my child finished the workshop with ceramic-covered clothes from head to toe! And so did I! While it's great to be able to experiment on your own, she could have explained the different techniques to us throughout the workshop. 15 minutes before the end of the workshop, she explained that we had to use the water bucket already full of clay to clean everything (the table, the mini-towers, the wooden plates), to save water. Finally, the cleaning cloths were also full of clay. So the cleaning wasn't effective and it took longer. I didn't understand this because there were toilets close by and we could have had clean water. For 45 euros per person, you'd expect a much higher quality experience.
