Discover the basics of working on a potter’s wheel and experience the joy of shaping clay as it spins. By exploring the essential techniques and learning the different stages of wheel-throwing, you’ll learn how to center, build up, and shape the clay to create your own piece. A workshop open to everyone, designed to introduce you to ceramics and help you discover the joy of shaping clay with your own hands.
Workshop Schedule (2.5 hours):
- This session invites you to discover the fundamentals of wheel-throwing and become familiar with the potter’s wheel. With step-by-step guidance from an artist-instructor, you’ll learn to work with the clay, master your techniques, and gradually build your first bowl or cup.
- Discover the techniques of wheel-throwing: After an introduction to the equipment and the various stages of the process, you’ll learn how to prepare and center the clay on the wheel. You’ll then discover how to open, build up, and gradually shape the walls to create a harmonious form.
- Shaping and personalizing your piece: Once you’ve mastered the techniques, you’ll be able to experiment with different shapes and refine the proportions of your piece. The focus will be on precision and the joy of watching the clay take shape in your hands.
