Discover the essential techniques of ceramic wheel-throwing during a workshop led by Sarah at her studio in the heart of Paris’s 18th arrondissement. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to hone your skills, learn how to shape clay on the wheel and enjoy an immersive experience that brings you up close to the art of ceramics.

Workshop itinerary (2.5 hours):

  • Welcome and introduction: an introduction to the world of ceramics, how the wheel works, and the different stages of the manufacturing process.
  • Introduction to wheel-throwing: Learn the basic techniques for centering the clay, opening the piece, and building up the walls.
  • Creating your pieces: Practice on the wheel with step-by-step guidance from Sarah to shape one or more pieces.
  • Finishing touches: Select your best pieces, which will then be dried, trued, glazed, and fired by the artisan.

You’ll be able to pick up your creations a few weeks later, once all the finishing steps are complete.

This workshop is open to both beginners and those with some prior experience on the potter’s wheel—it’s the perfect way to discover or deepen your understanding of this iconic ceramic technique and create one-of-a-kind pieces.
