Come and learn Raku with Fabienne, a ceramist in Avignon! What is Raku? It's a low-temperature firing process straight out of Japan, originally used to make tea ceremony bowls. The glazed pieces are subjected to a high thermal shock to reveal attractive cracks.
Course of the workshop (5h) :
- Welcome by Fabienne, who will show you around her workshop.
- Choice of 3 pieces to enamel
- Enameling and placing the pieces in the kiln for firing.
- Defiring and placing pieces in cans for cooling
- Cleaning your soot-covered pieces
- Finally, you can leave with your own unique pieces!

We were very satisfied with our raku session. We had a great time with Fabienne, who transmits her know-how in a very educational, relaxed, friendly and passionate way. The objects created were varied, and the results obtained after the random firing in the kiln (metallic and/or crackled) were much to our liking.

Conviviality and sharing. The history of the raku technique is very well told, with clear explanations to start the session and a choice of objects. You see the firing process and discover what chance has produced. A great experience!

It was great! A first for me, I'm a total beginner, and I was able to make some beautiful pieces. Fabienne puts you at ease right away, there's a good atmosphere, it's a workshop that did me a lot of good, I really enjoyed it. The "Raku technique" (a shortcut) is incredible. It's very impressive to see. I can't wait to start creating again!
