Antoine invites you to discover the art of knife-making through a 3-hour workshop where you’ll craft your own knife from start to finish. You’ll learn the different steps involved in making the “L’Anjou” folding knife, which he designed a few years ago. With clear, patient instruction and in a group of no more than 6 people, Antoine will share his passion for the craft with you, and you’ll leave with your very own creation.
Workshop itinerary (3 hours):
- Introduction to metalworking and the mechanics of knives.
- Assembling the metal parts (pre-fabricated), including the stainless steel blade.
- Manually riveting the various parts together.
- Choosing handles from a wide selection of woods sourced from the Anjou region: various wood species, recycled wood, or composite materials. Your knife will be customized to your liking!
- Assembling the handle.
- Shaping with a belt sander.
- Final hand-sanding.
- Linseed oil to protect and polish the handle.
- Sharpening the blade.
- Tips from Antoine throughout the workshop.
- Each participant takes home their knife in a pocket sheath provided by Antoine.
