Come learn the basics of hand-building with Violaine, who will introduce you to her craft as a ceramicist. She’ll teach you how to create hand-built pieces using your 10 fingers!

Workshop itinerary (2 to 3 hours):

• First, you’ll get a feel for the material and explore how the clay feels in your hands to prepare for shaping.
• You’ll then choose the pieces you’d like to make: a bowl, a plate, or even both—the choice is yours!
• Create the piece(s) of your choice.
• Violaine will then fire and glaze your ceramics; you’ll need to come pick them up about one month after the workshop.

You can choose to create:

• A bowl: using the pinch-building technique, you’ll shape a salad bowl of your chosen size from a ball of clay.
• A plate: Come with a decoration idea, or Violaine will suggest stamp designs. You’ll shape a slab of clay, press it into a mold, remove it from the mold, and then decorate it.
• A pair of bowls
