Discover the most magical part of ceramics: glazing.

Monika offers you a unique experience in her studio: glazing real, bisque-fired ceramic pieces, just as potters do in their studios.

Workshop itinerary (2.5 hours):

You’ll choose from a selection of mugs, bowls, cups, plates, or trinket dishes made of earthenware or stoneware, which I’ve shaped and fired once myself. Monika will explain the role of glaze, how it works, the differences between earthenware and stoneware, and how firing affects colors and finishes.
You’ll then discover several application techniques used in the studio: brushing, dipping, and spray painting (demonstration depending on the pieces and workshop conditions). You’ll learn how to achieve an even coat, experiment with layering, and create different effects.
To give free rein to your creativity, you’ll have access to a palette of 24 carefully selected glazes, with glossy, satin, or matte finishes. You can combine them to create a one-of-a-kind piece.
Once your creation is complete, Monika will handle the final firing. The heat of the kiln will reveal the full depth of the colors and the sometimes unexpected effects of the glaze.
You’ll be able to pick up your piece about 2 to 3 weeks later, ready for everyday use or as a gift.
Drinks and pastries will be served throughout the workshop to enhance this moment of creativity and camaraderie.
