Discover Kintsugi,the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics by highlighting their cracks rather than hiding them. More than just a repair technique, it is a true philosophy that celebrates the marks of time and the history of each object.
Alongside Monika, you’ll explore the origins of Kintsugi, its principles, and the various steps of this ancient technique in a friendly atmosphere.
Workshop Schedule (2.5 hours):
- You may bring your own earthenware, stoneware, or porcelain object (broken into 2 to 4 pieces at most) or choose a piece provided at the workshop.
- Monika will guide you step by step through cleaning, assembling, and repairing your object using the appropriate materials. You’ll then learn how to highlight the fracture lines with a gold finish, transforming the break into a truly decorative element.
- At the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your creation as well as all the necessary instructions to ensure it dries properly at home. After a few days of drying, your piece will become a symbol of a confident repair, where each crack tells a new story.
- Drinks and pastries will be served throughout the workshop to accompany this moment of creativity and camaraderie.
