Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing ceramics with gold. Come learn about this activity centered on ceramics, repairing, and restoring an object that has been broken. The goal of this Japanese art form is to enhance the beauty of a broken ceramic piece.

Workshop Schedule (1.5 hours):

• Welcome and tour of the workshop.
• Explanation of the origins of kintsugi and its philosophy. You’ll discuss the meaning of kintsugi and, if you’d like, share your own life experiences or stories about your broken pieces.
• Explanation of the workshop process: Since the traditional Japanese method cannot be completed in just 2 hours, you will use resin glue and brass powder to create a golden, shiny finish.
• Repairing the object: a broken item you bring from home or one provided by the workshop.
• At the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your stunning creation—upcycled and transformed!
