Workshop on Making a Teapot by Hand-Shaping in Marseille's 5th District

Are you a tea lover? Come make your own clay teapot and shape it just the way you like it.

You’ll be guided by a ceramics specialist who’s dedicated to the world of tea.

Workshop schedule:

Duration: 6 hours, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., with a 1-hour break between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

• 10:00 a.m.: Welcome reception for participants over tea
• Until 1:00 p.m.: Choosing the teapot’s shape and exploring the various modeling techniques available.
  Shaping the body and the various parts: lid, spout, and handles
• Lunch break (1 hour): There are many dining options available in the neighborhood. Alternatively, a kitchen area with a stovetop, microwave, and refrigerator is available at the workshop.
• 2:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.: continuation and completion of the various parts of the teapot.
  Assembling the parts: spout, handle, and lid
  If time permits: Decorating the teapot.
• Review and discussion of the day’s activities.

The teapot will be fired and glazed by the instructor. The piece will be ready in six weeks and will be stored at the workshop for three months.
