Beer tasting: what you need to know to enjoy it even more

A cold beer is always a pleasure to drink, especially in summer! But do you know what makes it special and how to enjoy it? To find out more about this alcoholic beverage, book a beer tasting with Funbooker!

How a session works

This beer-tasting workshop will give you the chance to spend some quality time with your friends or colleagues, while learning more about the brewing process. At the end of the session, you'll know..:

The right temperature for tasting your beer

There's an infallible method for drinking beer at the right temperature. You need to refer to the degree of alcohol and add the number 1. For example, a 6% beer should be drunk at 7 degrees!

The glass to choose

You'll find the straight glass, inspired by Irish pubs; the mug, very popular in Germany (its thick walls keep the drink at a constant temperature); the chalice, for abbey beers; the tulip glass, widely used in Belgium; or the balloon glass, particularly suitable for dark, low-carbon beers.

The right beer for the right moment

Lager is perfect for aperitifs and dinners with friends. Amber beers are best enjoyed slowly, preferably unaccompanied. Stout beer, stronger than the others, is ideal for festive evenings!

Last but not least, non-alcoholic beers allow you to refresh yourself at any time of the day, and celebrate when you're on the road or pregnant.

Beer tastes and vocabulary

During this beer tasting, you'll learn to use the right words to describe the mouthfeel and flavors (fruity, spicy, honeyed...).

Beer families to discover

  • White: this cool-drinking beverage is barley-free and often contains citrus aromas.
  • Blonde: a bright, golden color, sometimes with a fruity taste.
  • Amber or red: made with brown malt, with a slightly spicy flavor.
  • Brune: this is a beer with a very pronounced taste and a brown color, sometimes with coffee or cocoa aromas.
