Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of cooperage with Frédéric during a two-hour immersive experience! Discover the age-old secrets of barrel-making, while tasting exquisite wines.
Course of the workshop (2h):
- The first part of the workshop plunges you into the thousand-year history of cooperage, from the time of the Gauls to the present day. You'll discover how barrels are made, from the selection of oak trees to the meticulous woodworking, exploring the benefits and global importance of this craft.
- After a demonstration and essential instructions, you'll get hands-on with a team of 3 to 5 people to assemble a 228-liter Burgundy barrel. The objective: to assemble, erect, tighten and roll the barrel, requiring teamwork. Be prepared for a possible timed evaluation, and at the end, leave with a souvenir photo of the experience!
- Following this team collaboration, the team will unveil the toasting process, revealing the final formation of the barrel. You'll explore the different toasting times and aromas released by the wood, as well as the essential partnership between winemaker and cooper to marry the origin of the wood and the cooper's expertise in the wine aging process.
